front of our Christmas Tree. Then you will see some pictures of
Katherine sitting on Santa's lap at the Duck Woods Children's Christmas
Party. Recently Katherine starting taking Karate with her Dad. Here she
has just been promoted to Green Belt. And of course Katherine loves
horses. She is taking horse-back riding lessons now. Here she is on
Chester. Her teacher says she is a natural with horses. She sure loves

| Pirates in Paradise |

| Description: Katherine has always been interested in
Pirates. We recently joined over 100 other Pirate reenactors at the
Pirates in Paradise Festival in Key West. For six days we were Pirates.
We had a blast. Fort Zachary Taylor was converted over into a Pirate
encampment complete with period tents, cannons, fight circles, period
style vendors and displays. On the beach there were staged battles
involving cannons, flintlock muskets, blunderbusses and pistols between
the Pirates on shore and the Pirates in ships. Katherine whose Pirate
name is ¿Black Kat¿ entered the National Walk the Plank Competition.
Katherine and her fellow competitors were forced to walk the plank off
the Schooner Wolf into the briny depths. Katherine placed third in the
competition. At the big Pirate Feast on the last night Katherine was
awarded a small treasure chest full of gold and silver doubloons and

| Pirate Festival |
| Blackbeard, Miss DeeGee |
| Description: This past June Katherine and I attended the
Hampton Roads Blackbeard Festival as pirate reenactors. We had the time
of our lives. Hanging out with, camping, staging mock land and sea
battles, eating a ¿period dinner¿ on a ¿tall ship¿, all with the
Pirates. The first picture is of Blackbeard himself and his wife Miss
DeeGee with Katherine. We were able to spend quite a lot of time the
first evening with them. They were so much fun. Katherine was enamored
with the Captain and Miss DeeGee. The next photo shows Katherine
outside of the Pirate¿s Ball with some of her fellow Pirates. The next
day some of the members of ¿Blackbeard¿s Crew¿ put Katherine to work at
their booth selling pirate gear. That is Stan and you can barely see
Miss Karen behind him. Katherine seemed to be a natural selling Pirate
gear. The fourth photo is of Katherine, Spyder, Al and his son Bob. The
last photo is a small sampling of some of the Pirates. If you look
closely you can see Katherine but she was holding her pistol in front
of her face so you can barely see her. Can you pick me out of this

| Description: Here is Katherine with her mother as we were
getting ready to go to Owens. The next photo is of Katherine fishing in
our back yard. She caught one Bass about 11 inches long, a small Bass
and a large Bream. She will touch the fish now. This photo was taken by
Cindy Archbell photographer. The third photo is of Katherine and her
friend Anna Buchanan. They were playing Pirate in Katherine¿s boat in
the pond. I am not too happy with Katherine and Anna¿s choice for crew
sitting in the back seat. Katherine played soccer this year and had a
great time. Here is an action shot as she tries to get to the ball.

| Eighth Birthday Party |

| Description: September 2003. Before the party started
Katherine was giving some of her early guests a ride in her paddleboat.
It was an overcast day with on and off rain showers. But we had a great
time. The second photo is of some of the guests in the backyard. One of
the fathers assisted me this year with the paddleboat rides and the
third photo is of them casting off to go up the pond. There was a spot
on the other side of the pond way north of our house where a man
wearing old colonial looking clothes, a sword, an eye patch, a tri
corner hat and brandishing an old muzzle loading pistol was yelling at
them from the bank. He kept yelling that they had better get away from
his treasure and called them scalawags and scurvy dogs. He occasionally
fired his pistol in the air to punctuate his point. You could hear the
girls screaming all the way down the pond. I sent a camera with John on
the next trip up the pond and here are two of the pictures he was able
to take. John was a bit leery to get any closer to shore so the

| Description: Here is a nice picture of my girls, Linda,
Katherine and Jett on the back deck.
Next is a picture of Katherine and Jett on the back deck as well.
As soon as we left the pool Katherine then wanted to ride her bike. She
didn¿t even usually change out of her bathing suit. Just put on the
helmet and go! The third picture seems to contain our dog Jett with
Katherine, on her bike, ready to roll. The fourth picture is of
Katherine riding around the circular driveway, and Jett in the
background. Funny, Jett seems to be in a lot of pictures these days.
Jett is as much a camera hound as Katherine. Here is a nice photo of

| Description: Katherine¿s favorite thing to do is go to the
Duck Woods Pool. She spent a lot of time there this past summer. This
picture shows her jumping off the diving board. The next picture shows
her starting a dive and the third shows her in mid air. Katherine was
on the swim team this past summer 2003 and here she has been presented
with her awards at the end of the season. The last picture shows my
baby and I at a table at the pool. It was a great summer!! |

| Description: Katherine was in the play "Annie" this past
month 3/21/03 at Kitty Hawk Elementary School. She was one of the
orphans. She really enjoyed it. They did a great job with the play. The
first picture is Katherine and I after the play on our front porch. The
second was also on our front porch just much closer. Then third and
fourth are Katherine in the front lobby after the play. The fifth is
her posing in her Annie shirt at her Aunt Winnie¿s. |

| Description: Here are some more recent photo's. We finally
have our landscaping in. What a difference. Some of the photos are
before and some after the landscaping. |

| "Two hearts, one dream." |
| Description: Well we are finally in. Whew!!! We moved in
towards the end of September this year 2002. We sold our other house
and Katherine really misses the neighbors dog Jack. We are on the same
pond just around the corner from our old house. In fact you can see our
new house from the old one. So we are still close enough to the Duck
Woods Country Club to walk, which is so convenient. So on the backside
we are on Duck Woods Pond and in front across Ginguite Trail is
Ginguite Bay. So our views are fantastic front and back. The home on
the south is my Aunt Winnie and Uncle Lee¿s second home. (They live in
Richmond) They come down most every weekend. Linda and I worked hard to
get the house just the way we wanted it. "Two hearts, one dream." As
you can see it is like an old Southern plantation. The pictures in this
section are while the home is still under construction. I am waiting
for the landscaping to be finished before getting too many more
pictures. The first picture is of Katherine and her Nanna in the front
yard. You can see the warning signs on the doors informing people to
stay out until the finish on the hardwood floors is dry. The next
couple pictures are taken earlier in the process. If you look close you
can see Katherine standing on the second story front porch. Then
Katherine, Michael, Alex and I are relaxing on the second story screen
porch or as they say in many parts of the South the ¿sleeping porch¿.
It opens from the master bedroom. The last picture was taken on Aunt
Winnie and Uncle Lee¿s front porch. You can see our house under
construction in the background. I will have more pictures after the

| Description: As I have mentioned, Katherine loves her
cousins. The first picture taken this past summer is of Katherine,
Alex, Jack the dog and a Bass. Alex had hooked the bass and let
Katherine have the honor of reeling it in. Of course Jack had to
assist. Notice Katherine will now hold the fish. The next picture is of
Michael fixing us a wonderful desert at Aunt Winnie¿s house. Katherine
was just observing. The third picture is on the second story screen
porch of Rosshire. Note we are still on the same pond. Rosshire was
under construction at the time. The next picture was taken this past
summer in Aunt Winnie¿s entrance foyer. Look how tall they all are
getting. Then this past Aug. 2002 we went to Richmond to pick out some
light fixtures for Rosshire and Papa and Nanny took Katherine to
Maymont Park. I used to go there all the time when I was in Richmond.

| Description: Here are some fish Katherine caught in our back
yard. These pictures are a couple of years old. The first is a 17 inch
bass. That's right! Four years old on a cane pole and a minnow. Now
keep in mind she would not touch the fish. The first three pictures are
of that fish. The next three are of a 16 inch bass she caught another
day. Notice the slight holding of the tail on the last picture. She is
getting braver. We have caught many more and like most of us on the
pond it is always catch and release. |

year we were expecting rain so we rented a huge tent. Well it didn't
rain but the tent was still nice so you could get out of the wind.

a beautiful dress and was very excited. She had a small speaking part

Daddy melt. Somehow the line "wrapped around her little finger" seems

Dance. This year her class danced one tap and one ballet in the
recital. It was a big time. Her grandmother and aunt from Troy NY came
down as well as her grandparents and Aunt and Uncle from Richmond. She
was the center of attention with all of her relatives and she loved it. |

| Description: One of my favorite spots for lunch is Saul's
Barbeque. I eat there at least once a week. Then most Saturdays my
Uncle Lee and Aunt Winnie like to hit Rick and Tina's place so I can't
pass up a great meal. If you go in there tell them Mike Ross said to
order "Family Style". They start bringing out the food. All kinds of
food and as much as you want. But save room for the 'nana puddin'.

restaurants for dinner as well. Here we are at Owen's Restaurant. Wow
what a menu. I always get the seafood platter and am always elated.
Great service and a fantastic atmosphere. Another of my favorites for
dinner is Kelly's. Same goes, fantastic food, service and atmosphere.
We also love, JK's, Quag's, Lafagata, The Brewing Station and
Madison's. |

his parents property in Southern Shores he was in a stroller. That was
in 1987. Now he is way over six feet tall. Since then the Dougherty's
have bought two more properties. Aguarius and Aries on the oceanfront.
